Who are we ?

Founded in 1928 in Montreal, initially under the name W.H. Perron, NORSECO is today one of the most important distributors of vegetable and flower seeds and liners, as well as horticultural products, in Canada.

Thanks to its team of experts in market gardening and ornamental horticulture, along with its modern facilities, NORSECO is able to commercialize top quality and innovative varieties of vegetables and flowers that are well adapted to local growing conditions. The business, with its head office in Laval, is always taking the lead by collaborating with plant breeders and horticultural companies – both market garden and ornamental – from all around the world.

The commercial division of NORSECO serves a professional clientele from across Canada through its technical representatives and from the NORSECO commercial catalogues. Its mail order division responds to consumer demands with two very popular mail order catalogues: HortiClub W.H.Perron for the French-speaking market and Dominion Seed House for the English-speaking one.

From W.H. Perron to NORSECO

1928: The W.H. Perron company is founded by Wilfrid-Henri Perron. The first store is located in downtown Montreal where seeds and garden accessories are sold to home and professional gardeners.

1930: The first W.H. Perron catalogue is published.

1954: The store moves to 515 Blvd. Curé-Labelle in Laval.

1959: Land is purchased in Boisbriand for vegetable production and field trials.

1969: Wilfrid-Henri Perron retires and hands over the reins to his son, Henri Perron. The business continues to grow.

1987: A group of employees and external managers purchase the shares held by the founding family.
Their goal: modernize the company and pursue a period of rapid business expansion.

1989: Semences Laval Inc. is purchased and integrated into the company’s operations.

1990: The business moves to 2914 Blvd. Curé-Labelle in Laval, re-opening in the type of leading-edge facility required of a successful seed retailer.

1992: Dominion Seed House Inc., an Ontario company, is purchased and expansion beyond Quebec’s borders begins.

1994: The W.H. Perron garden centres and trade mark are sold to White Rose Crafts and Nursery Sales Ltd., an Ontario company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

1994: The NORSECO name is adopted. It is created from the abbreviation of “North”, “Seeds”, and “Company” to form the commercial division of the business.

2010: NORSECO is today one of the most important distributors of vegetable and flower seeds and liners, as well as horticultural products, in Canada.
